DARKROOM
We have recently completed the construction of our community darkroom. This space consists of 13 enlargers - 35mm, medium format, 4x5” and 8x10” - as well as a film processing area and reference library. The space has been built almost entirely out of reclaimed and recycled materials and the large majority of the equipment sourced through generous donations or from other darkrooms around the country that have closed down where we have managed to rescue stuff from their skip outside!
We are still in need of various things so if you have any old darkroom / photography equipment taking up space in your loft / garage / under the stairs and want to find a new home for it, please consider us! + We’re looking for old SLR film cameras too if you have one gathering dust somewhere!
The space is built and we desperately want people to be able to come and use it, however we still have a lot of work to do before this can happen. We need to create an online booking system, gather a team of volunteers, purchase materials, fulfil a number of health and safety requirements and develop a range of courses and workshops.
We are seeking funding to put these measures into place and open the space to members so please bare with us. In the meantime keep an eye on our social media pages and join our mailing list for updates.
